Episode 5: Christina Gunner

Episode #5

Christina Gunner, LCSW-C

"Addiction, depression, anxiety, and trauma can be lonely, but recovery from them doesn’t have to be. In my therapeutic approach I put emphasis on developing and practicing empathy for self and others, skill’s building, and exploration of past and present experiences impacting quality of life. Navigating healthy ways to cope with life’s many issues affords us the opportunity to heal and be who we want to be. I am here to offer support for growth through both guiding and following. If you are looking for someone to walk through the scary parts of your past and present, I am here to hold a safe and consistent space. My focus is on remaining empathetic while holding you to what you are capable of. Helping people through authentic and engaged therapy is important to me. We can create and maintain an environment of mutual trust and safety to express, explore, and examine where you are and where you want to go. There is no guessing when we work together. I hope that we can identify and accomplish your goals. Therapy is challenging and rewarding work. I am pleased to be provided the opportunity to work with you in that challenge.

I have a passion for learning, teaching, and engaging both clients and staff to push beyond their comfort zone to reach their goals. I completed my Masters of Social Work at the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Social Work in 2011. I use a myriad of therapeutic modalities to find a style and approach that is most effective for the individual being served. I have eight years of professional experience with addiction, and co-occurring mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, and trauma. I am in the process of completing training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)."
